The National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued a forecast for the Mexico Valley region, alerting about weather conditions that anticipate a mild to warm environment with a partially cloudy to overcast sky, as well as the presence of rain and showers, especially in Mexico City and the State of Mexico.
A trough, an atmospheric phenomenon derived from a low-pressure area extending in height from the northeast to the west of the country, will cause showers in various regions, concentrating in central and central-southern Mexico, including Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Puebla, Tlaxcala, and Morelos. The possibility of lightning strikes and hail in some sectors such as Hidalgo, Puebla, and Tlaxcala is forecasted.
For Sunday, February 2, 2025, a morning with a partially cloudy sky and the presence of fog in the Mexico Valley is anticipated, which will foster a cool environment. As the day progresses, more cloudiness is expected and the weather will turn mild, with maximum temperatures between 21 and 23 °C in the Mexican capital. Later, the chances of rain will increase, with intervals of moderate to heavy showers (between 5 and 25 mm) accompanied by thunderstorms.
Temperatures will drop to 8-10 °C in Mexico City at night, requiring warm clothing. During the day, precipitation will mainly affect Mexico City and the State of Mexico, potentially extending to isolated rains in nearby states. There is a possibility of hail, especially in high areas of Hidalgo, Puebla, and Tlaxcala. The SMN warns of possible traffic interruptions and an increase in risks associated with the storms.
